Electric Current

Electric current is the rate of flow of electric charge through a conductor.

$$I = \frac{Q}{t}$$

where:

• $I$ = current (in amperes, A)
• $Q$ = charge (in coulombs, C)
• $t$ = time (in seconds, s)

One ampere is defined as the flow of $1$ coulomb of charge per second.

$$1\,\text{A} = \frac{1\,\text{C}}{1\,\text{s}}$$
